MAC Makeover

If you're planning on getting your makeup done for an event (prom, wedding, etc) make sure you check out Mac! But more specifically, in Hudson's Bay. Why, you may ask? Well, when you get your makeup done by Mac at Hudson's Bay, not only do they do a wonderful job, but you pick 3 products, and pay for those as part of the makeover. If you were to pick 3 lipsticks for example, it would be $60 for the makeover AND the lipsticks!

Now, this still may sound strange to you, but if you are planning on getting makeup done in a Mac solo store, it is around $50, but, you only get a free mascara with the makeover.

At the end of the day, you may be spending more by purchasing 3 products, but you're getting product as well as a makeover, instead of a single mascara.

When I got my makeup done for prom, it ended up being $90 with Mac in Hudson's Bay simply because I picked slightly more expensive products that I know I loved: Mineralized Skinfinish Powder, Pro Longwear Concealer, along with lipstick.

Makeup Dupes!

Hello!

Recently, I discovered an Instagram user, "DupeThat" that posts almost IDENTICAL dupes, saving us makeup lovers hundreds of dollars! The account photographs side by side pictures (with, and without flash) to show users just how identical these dupes are! These are my top 5 that I need to get my hands on! Make sure to check out the Instagram and give it a follow, I'm sure your wallet will be thankful for it!

1)  Koko K vs. Tres Leches
Now this is what I call a dupe. Saving $9, and not having the fear that Kylie Cosmetics will sell out, sounds like a steal!

2) Film Noir vs. Chocoholic
While the Maybelline swatch seems to be slightly more red toned, this is definitely a dupe I'll be picking up soon!

3) Marshmallow vs. Golden Lights
Wow! Although I've personally never tried Makeup Revolution, I can see myself picking up this highlight soon! Saving $34!!

4) Blue Ice vs. Daydream
Considering Blue Ice is only available in the Moonchild Glow Kit, if you only want to pick up this shade, check out Love Luxe! The swatches are almost identical!

5) Rose Matter vs. November
Last, but certainly not least, we have this wonderful dupe. Colourpop is easily one of my favorite liquid lipstick brands, so highly pigmented and very well priced. This Kathleen Lights collab will save you $12.

If this doesn't convince you to check out Dupe That, I'm not sure what will! Save yourself money, and save time because she does all the work for you finding these dupes. I don't know about you, but I'll be making a trip to the mall sometime soon.

Tarte Amazonian Clay Matte Eyeshadow Palette; Tartelette

Searching for an every day eyeshadow palette is difficult, it's hard to find the perfect balance between light, and dark shades, while getting a flawless color payoff that last all day. Personally, I'm not a huge fan of super glittery and sparkly eyeshadow looks for my day-to-day makeup, so finding the Tartelette palette was a treat.

The palette is made up of 12 matte eyeshadows that range from browns, to purples, and a deep black as well. The pigmentation is incredible and the shadows last all day even without a primer. If i do use a primer, my favorite is Urban Decay Primer Potion, which just ensures that the shadow's will not crease and last even longer just in case. The shadows glide on perfectly and smoothly and feel super rich and creamy on your eyelids. They're super blend-able as well, which is always a bonus.

My every day look consists of "Force of Nature" in the crease, "Multi Tasker" in my outer crease/outer v,  "Fashionista" in my outer v, and a mix of "Free Spirit", and "Wanderer" on the inner 2/3rd of my lid.

This palette was purchased at Sephora and is honestly my holy-grail palette; ill sometimes even use Fashionista to fill in my brows!

I highly recommend this palette especially if you're on the hunt for something new, and if you want matte shades!

Too Faced Sugar Pop Palette- Review

Recently, I made a trip to Sephora to make a return, but caught my eye on the Too Faced Limited Edition Sugar Pop Palette. Upon first glance, my initial reaction was that this palette included gorgeous glittery eyeshadows, and I would be able to create bold, dramatic eye looks with this. But after using it for a little while, its safe to say it did not live up to my expectations.
In the palette, the colours look opaque, bold, and easy to use- all wrong. The eyeshadows were very powdery, did not blend well, and were not as opaque as they look in the pan. I assumed I may be using it wrong, maybe the wrong brushes, or I did not prep my eyelid well enough, so I tried a different brand of brushes, and primed my eyelids with Urban Decay's Primer Potion, but had the same disappointing results.

The reviews on the Too Faced website were mainly positive...
"I LOVE THIS PALETTE!! I can't help but incorporate it into most of my other looks using different shadows bc I just think these shades are beautiful. They're pigmented, buttery, super blendable and apply so beautifully!! I think Too Faced is my favorite brand ever, I am obsessed with the packaging it is just my Spring and Summer palette!!"
- Caitlin

But I am more on the side of this reviewer...
"I was disappointed with this one. I did not feel the pigmentation was anything impressive to say the least - I used several different primers and also tried the shades wet. I was hoping for a much more candied look, but still spring-y and fresh, nothing loud. Unfortunately, the colors just didn't show up the way I was hoping."
-Jaime

Overall, this palette really was nothing special, and I did eventually return it to Sephora, and purchased Tarte's Tartelette Palette- expect a review sometime soon!
